Krissy Flower Review ~ Tutorials by Fancy Schmancy Boutique

The Fancy Schmancy Boutique is one of our sponsors.  Jeni sent me another one of her wonderful tutorials called “Krissy” to try out and write a review on.  This tutorial took a little more time than some of her other tutorials but I am sure the next one I made it would go a lot faster.  After making this flower there are some things I would do different next time.  One being my fabric choice I would probably choose a fabric that is similar on both sides and not noticeable different sides.  This one I choose had two different sides and I did not know until after it was all done that I was not consistent with this.  One reason was my lighting in my living room is horrible and second I was probably not wearing my reading glasses (getting older sucks lol). Third I would choose some thing more fancy for the center of this flower.  I did not have a lot of choices to choose from and I did not pick up the right center when planning this flower out.  I do have some really nice centers coming in through a group buy, I am excited to start using them.  I may change this center out when I get my new centers.  Last I would probably choose a fabric that was not so stiff.  Over all I love the way it turned out and love Jeni’s tutorials.  I am always amazed at my final product and say to myself, “I really made this.”  I can tell Jeni really enjoys writing tutorials and does a great job at it.

These are some of the things I really liked about Jeni's tutorial:

  • It was very easy to read, the text was nice and large; I did not even need to put on my reading glasses!
  • The tutorial was very nicely put together so that basically anyone, even a first-timer could figure it out.
  • There are a lot of very helpful pictures. I love good pictures showing how to do something, it is much easier to follow than just plain text.
  • Directions included suggestions on how to create the flower either smaller or larger as well as how to cut your fabric without the edges fraying.

Things You Can Do With The Shabby Chiffon Flowers

I wanted to share a few things you can do with these Shabby Chiffon Flowers. If you missed my first post about these flowers you can CLICK HERE to see the post and where you can purchase them at.

Info Website:  Pampered Princess Pretties – Link to purchase the flowers: http://www.pamperedprincesspretties.com/category_94/Shabby-Chiffon-Flowers.htm

The flowers are 2 1/2” dia and .40 ea for the plain colors and .60 for the ones with prints.  Please note: they do not come finished or with the centers you see below you have to add a felt circle or something to the back of these and a clip please see my original post it will give you more information before you purchase these flowers.

I had my daughter model for me.  Here are two bows used at side pigtails.  Also you will find a few samples of scrapbook brads I used in the center of these bows to dress them up a little and give them a different look.  They were all hot glued in the center of the flowers.

Here are a few samples with a thicker and thinner headband and using two and three flowers per headbands.  All flowers were clipped on to the headband (I never glue my bows to headbands) I always use clips.

Here is two more options for the flowers.  The first one is my daughters scripture bag and the second one is one of her white plain t-shirts.  There is so much you can do with these flowers.  If you can think of anymore or have pictures please contact me and send a picture of them to me if I receive several pictures I will post all of them in a post.

Shabby Chiffon Flowers

I am so excited to share these flowers with you.  Megan from Pampered Princess Pretties was so kind to send me several of each color of these Shabby Chiffon Flowers to try out.  The flowers came on a strand all linked together by color.  I had to cut the mesh around each one, then I cut out felt circles for each and lined an alligator clip to finish it off.  You can see one of these up close and the back side below.  They were a lot of work to get all of these made (I made 2 of each to start out with) but so worth it.  I think we have every single outfit in my daughters closet covered with these.  These Shabby Chiffon Flowers are 2 1/2” dia so they are perfect for using one or they also work with using two in pony tails.  They looks really cute clipped on a headband with 2 or three of them at a time.  I will come back and show you some different ways to use these hopefully next week some time.  I have some idea storming in my mind with all the cute things I can do with these.

I know Pampered Princess Pretties is getting a smaller version in soon I believe they are 1 1/2” dia so a little smaller than these are.  The 2 1/2” dia (ones pictured below) are .40 ea. for the solid colors and .60 for the muli-colors.  Click Here for the link to purchase these.  Please note: This price is for the flowers only and not the items to finish it off you have to do this yourself.
